Basic Science Study
Summary
Study start date: October 30, 2026
Actual date on which the first participant was enrolled. This study is about exploring how digital storytelling can enhance nursing education. It focuses on nursing students, aiming to improve their understanding of the nursing process, which includes assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation. These steps are crucial for providing evidence-based and holistic care. However, nursing students often struggle with assessment, prioritization, and individualization of care interventions. This study hopes to address these challenges by testing if digital storytelling can improve students' knowledge, competency, and clinical reasoning skills in the nursing process. Participants in this study will be split into two groups. One group will receive digital storytelling as part of their instruction, while the other group will receive traditional case-based teaching. Before and after the intervention, all participants will complete assessments. These include a Nursing Process Knowledge Test, a Nursing Process Competency Scale, a Clinical Reasoning Assessment Rubric, and Instructional Material Motivation Scales. There will also be follow-up evaluations immediately after the intervention and three months later. These assessments will help researchers understand if digital storytelling is more effective than traditional methods in teaching the nursing process.
