Study start date: January 13, 2026

Actual date on which the first participant was enrolled.

This study focuses on evaluating the effectiveness and safety of a treatment called veverimer in adults diagnosed with moderate-to-severe chronic kidney disease (CKD) who also have metabolic acidosis, a condition where the body produces too much acid. The goal is to understand if veverimer can help manage these conditions better, potentially improving the quality of care for those affected. During this 26-week study, participants will receive veverimer treatment. The study measures the results by observing changes in the serum bicarbonate concentration, a key indicator of acid levels in the body. Additionally, it assesses if veverimer improves physical performance using a test called the Sit-to-Stand 5 times test (STS5), which evaluates lower body strength and balance.

Treatment Study

These studies test new ways to treat a disease, condition, or health issue. The goal is to see if a new drug, therapy, or approach works better or has fewer side effects than existing options.

Eligibility
