Summary
Study start date: September 2, 2025
Actual date on which the first participant was enrolled. This study explores whether teaching science outdoors can enhance young students' learning experiences and overall well-being compared to traditional indoor science classes. It targets primary school children to see if learning in nature helps them make better observations of living organisms. The research also examines if outdoor classes affect children's feelings towards nature, such as their connection to it and any eco-related anxiety or stress they might have. Understanding these effects could lead to more effective educational approaches that not only improve learning but also foster a positive relationship with the environment. Participants in this study will take part in a science education program for two hours each week over five weeks. This will occur either in an outdoor setting or a regular classroom. Before and after these sessions, children will complete questionnaires to assess any changes in their well-being and thoughts about nature. Additionally, after the program, all participants will attend a field trip where they will observe and record details about living organisms. This helps researchers compare the quality of observations made by children from both the outdoor and indoor learning environments. The study does not mention specific risks or benefits for participants, focusing instead on evaluating educational outcomes.
