Study start date: January 23, 2025

Actual date on which the first participant was enrolled.

This study focuses on improving cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) techniques for patients experiencing out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA). It aims to determine the best body position, either head-up or lying flat (supine), during CPR to enhance blood flow to the brain and other body parts. The study uses a special type of ultrasound called transesophageal echocardiography to observe and compare how well each position supports circulation. The ultimate goal is to identify the most effective CPR method, which could significantly enhance survival rates and recovery outcomes for these patients. Participants in the study undergo CPR while their body position is adjusted between head-up and supine to compare effects. Transesophageal echocardiography is used during this process, providing real-time images of heart function and blood circulation. By analyzing these images, researchers can assess which position offers better hemodynamics, meaning the flow of blood within the body. This study does not involve testing new drugs or treatments, but focuses on optimizing existing CPR practices to potentially improve patient outcomes in emergency situations.

Protocol

This section provides details of the study plan, including how the study is designed and what the study is measuring.
Design Details

50 patients to be enrolled

Total number of participants that the clinical trial aims to recruit.

Treatment Study

These studies test new ways to treat a disease, condition, or health issue. The goal is to see if a new drug, therapy, or approach works better or has fewer side effects than existing options.

Eligibility
