This study focuses on improving communication among nursing students to enhance patient care and reduce medical errors. It uses a communication tool called SBAR, which stands for Situation, Background, Assessment, and Recommendation, to provide a structured way for nurses to communicate important patient information. The research aims to develop a role-playing program that helps nursing students practice using SBAR in realistic scenarios. This approach is important because poor communication during patient handovers can lead to mistakes and inefficient use of resources, affecting both patient safety and quality of care. The study targets nursing students, as they are future healthcare providers who need strong communication skills to make quick and effective clinical decisions. Participants in the study will engage in role-playing exercises where they will use the SBAR communication method. This helps them practice making decisions and recognizing potential errors in a controlled environment. The study will assess how well the nursing students improve their skills in clinical decision-making and error prevention after participating in the program. The effectiveness of SBAR is measured by observing improvements in the students' ability to communicate important information and their confidence in making clinical decisions. The study aims to demonstrate that structured communication tools like SBAR can significantly enhance patient care by improving the accuracy and efficiency of information shared among healthcare professionals.

Study Objectives

One single intervention group is designated in this study

This study does not include a placebo group

Treatment Groups

Group I

Experimental
The researcher will hold a face-to-face meeting with the students in the intervention group and provide information about the purpose of the study, the content of the training, the Student Guidelines for the SBAR Role Playing Application and the research process. Then, "SBAR Training with Cases" will be given. In addition, a group will be established via Whatsapp and communication during the process will be provided through this channel. The days and times of the training will be determined by looking at the students' course schedules. The training will be carried out in the Skills Laboratory of the Faculty of Health Sciences at Yüzüncü Yıl University.
