Summary
Study start date: February 7, 2020
Actual date on which the first participant was enrolled. The study explores how balneotherapy, which involves using natural mineral waters and mud, affects blood pressure and heart rate. This treatment has been traditionally used for various conditions like rheumatic, dermatological, and digestive diseases. The research aims to understand the impact of such therapy on cardiovascular health, specifically focusing on individuals experiencing pain. By examining these effects, the study could provide insights into how spa treatments might support cardiovascular health, potentially offering a complementary approach to traditional medical treatments. Participants in the study are divided into two groups. Both groups receive a 10-session physical therapy program, including treatments like hot packs and ultrasound. However, only one group undergoes balneotherapy in thermal pools for 20 minutes at a temperature of 38-40°C before their physical therapy session. The outcomes are measured by recording blood pressure and heart rate before and after the treatments. The study ensures unbiased results by having the assessments conducted without knowledge of the group assignments. This method helps determine if balneotherapy has a measurable effect on heart and blood pressure health.
