Summary
Study start date: November 11, 2024
Actual date on which the first participant was enrolled. The GEROS Project is focused on creating a learning program that combines thorough health assessments and health promotion activities for older adults, specifically those aged 60 and above. This initiative involves university students from health-related fields working alongside healthcare professionals and older adults. The goal is to enhance the understanding of aging-related health issues while promoting a healthier lifestyle among older adults. This project not only aims to improve the quality of life for the elderly but also fosters education and collaboration between generations, contributing to global goals for good health and reduced inequalities. Participants in the study include older adults who can visit the university independently. Students work in small groups to carry out a detailed health assessment using specific tools to measure factors like frailty, capacity, and quality of life. The effectiveness of the program is evaluated by analyzing how much students learn and improve their skills, as well as how much older adults learn about their health and lifestyles. Satisfaction levels for both students and older adults are also assessed with a simple rating system. The findings aim to demonstrate the benefits of this interactive learning model, potentially serving as a template for similar programs elsewhere.
