Spiritual Care Education's Impact on Psychiatric Nurses' Well-Being and Competency
spiritual care education program
Services Research Study
Summary
Study start date: February 10, 2025
Actual date on which the first participant was enrolled. This study explores how enhancing spiritual care education among psychiatric nurses can improve their skills and overall well-being. It focuses on psychiatric nurses who work in hospitals, aiming to provide them with better tools to support their patients' spiritual needs. This is important because addressing spiritual care in mental health settings can potentially lead to better patient outcomes and improve the mental health care experience. By improving nurses' competencies in this area, the study aims to fill a gap in psychiatric nursing practices. The study involves two groups of nurses: one group receives an eight-week spiritual care training program while the other continues with their usual work without additional training. The training includes sessions on spiritual care concepts, its significance, and how to integrate it into nursing practice. Participants fill out a questionnaire about their spiritual well-being and competency both before and after the program. This helps researchers measure any changes in the nurses' abilities and well-being as a result of the training. The study does not mention specific risks, focusing instead on potential improvements in care quality and nurse satisfaction.
