This study is designed to explore how Pilates training, which is an exercise method focused on improving body alignment, posture, and balance, can benefit people with drug-resistant epilepsy. The study aims to see if Pilates can help reduce the number of seizures and improve various aspects of physical and mental health such as core strength, balance, exercise capacity, cognitive abilities, and overall quality of life. It involves 40 participants who are divided into two groups: one group will practice Pilates while continuing their usual medication, and the other group will only continue with their usual medication. The findings could potentially offer a new way to help manage epilepsy symptoms and improve life quality for those whose epilepsy does not respond well to medication. Participants in the study will either attend Pilates sessions three times a week for eight weeks or maintain their regular treatment without additional exercises. The effectiveness of the Pilates training will be measured by tracking changes in seizure frequency using a seizure diary, improvements in core strength through various physical tests, and balance through specific balance tests. Other health aspects like exercise capacity, cognitive function, fatigue, fear of movement, sleep quality, and depression levels will also be evaluated using different scales and tests before and after the treatment. This will help determine the overall impact of Pilates on both physical and mental health, providing insights into its potential benefits for managing epilepsy.
