Summary
Study start date: December 14, 2023
Actual date on which the first participant was enrolled. This study focuses on evaluating the effectiveness of two different walking therapies for individuals who have experienced a stroke. Specifically, it aims to compare robotic-assisted gait training and treadmill training with body-weight support in helping stroke patients improve their walking abilities. Stroke can affect a person's ability to walk due to muscle weakness and impaired coordination. By comparing these therapies, researchers hope to identify which method better enhances movement and muscle activity in the legs, ultimately aiming to improve the quality of life for those affected by stroke. Participants in the study are divided into three groups. One group undergoes robotic-assisted gait training using a device called RoboGait, while another group receives treadmill training with body-weight support using RehaWalk. The third group engages in traditional walking exercises. The study measures changes in walking patterns and leg muscle activity to determine the effectiveness of each training method. Understanding the benefits and potential limitations of these therapies can lead to more effective treatment strategies for stroke rehabilitation.
