This study focuses on evaluating the effects of hand massage therapy on patients receiving palliative care for cancer. With cancer rates rising globally, many individuals with cancer suffer from symptoms like pain, insomnia, and anxiety, especially in advanced stages. Palliative care aims to improve the quality of life for these patients through supportive therapies that address not just physical symptoms but also emotional and social needs. Hand massage, a non-drug approach, is considered safe and effective in reducing pain and improving comfort and sleep quality. This study seeks to understand its benefits specifically for cancer patients in palliative care, where such non-invasive methods could significantly enhance well-being. Participants in the study will receive hand massages as part of their palliative care regimen. The procedure involves gently stimulating the skin and underlying tissues of the hands to help reduce pain and discomfort. Researchers will observe changes in pain levels, comfort, and quality of sleep among the participants. The study aims to highlight the potential of hand massage as a simple, cost-effective method to alleviate some of the challenging symptoms faced by cancer patients. By focusing on these outcomes, the study hopes to provide evidence supporting the wider use of hand massage in palliative care settings, offering an additional tool for improving patient care.

Protocol

This section provides details of the study plan, including how the study is designed and what the study is measuring.
Design Details

76 patients to be enrolled

Total number of participants that the clinical trial aims to recruit.

Screening Study

Screening studies test new methods to find diseases or risk factors early—before any symptoms appear. This helps catch health issues sooner, when they may be easier to treat.
