Study start date: December 14, 2023

Actual date on which the first participant was enrolled.

The study aims to understand how auricular acupressure, a therapeutic technique involving the stimulation of specific points on the ear, affects the skin temperature on the lower back area, known as the lumbar region, in healthy individuals. Researchers are interested in observing any changes in skin temperature to better understand the effects of this therapy. This study is important as it could provide insights into how auricular acupressure might influence bodily functions, potentially leading to new therapeutic approaches for managing various health conditions. Participants in the study will undergo a procedure where their ear is stimulated at a specific point related to the kidneys, known as the auricular acupressure point. They will be divided into two groups, with one group receiving the actual acupressure treatment first followed by a placebo version, while the other group receives the placebo treatment first followed by the real one. Throughout the study, participants’ vital signs such as blood pressure, heart rate, breathing rate, and body temperature will be carefully monitored, along with the temperature of their lumbar region. The study will also track any side effects from the treatments to ensure participant safety.

Design Details

34 patients to be enrolled

Total number of participants that the clinical trial aims to recruit.

Basic Science Study

Basic science studies help researchers understand how the body works or how a disease develops. They don't test treatments, but they build the foundation for future therapies.

Eligibility

Researchers look for people who fit a certain description, called eligibility criteria: person's general health condition or prior treatments.
