Periodontal Status and Cardio Ankle Vascular Index Relationship in Short-term Type 2 Diabetic Patients
This study aims to observe the relationship between periodontal status and Cardio Ankle Vascular Index (CAVI) in individuals who have been recently diagnosed with type 2 diabetes, focusing on measuring average CAVI values in each study group.

Study start date: June 10, 2022
Actual date on which the first participant was enrolled. This study focuses on understanding the connection between gum health and a measure of heart health called the Cardio Ankle Vascular Index (CAVI) in people who have had type 2 diabetes for less than 5 years, as well as in generally healthy individuals. Both groups may or may not have severe gum disease, known as periodontitis. The research aims to provide insights into how gum health might be linked to heart health in these populations, potentially paving the way for improved care and management strategies for individuals with type 2 diabetes and severe periodontitis. Participants in this observational study will have their gum health assessed using the Classification of Periodontal and Peri-Implant Diseases and Conditions. Their heart health will be evaluated using the CAVI index, with higher values indicating poorer heart health. Various other health measures, such as body mass index, waist circumference, blood sugar levels, and blood pressure, will also be collected. The primary outcome of the study is to compare the mean CAVI values among the different study groups. The data collected will be analyzed using statistical software, with the aim of identifying any significant relationships between gum health and heart health.
