This study focuses on elite judo athletes, aiming to understand how their physical and mental abilities relate to their performance and risk of injury. The research is particularly interested in athletes from the first, second, and third years of senior high schools in North Taiwan that have shown excellent performance in national judo competitions. The goal is to provide coaches with valuable insights to enhance training methods and improve athletes' overall performance. The study involves both cross-sectional and prospective designs. For second and third-year athletes, their physical fitness and balance, along with psychological competencies, will be evaluated once. For first-year athletes, these assessments will be conducted at the beginning of the year, and their performance and injury status will be monitored monthly until the end of their second year. The physical assessment includes various tests like body composition, strength, power, endurance, agility, coordination, balance, flexibility, and cardiopulmonary capacity. Psychological abilities will be evaluated through a questionnaire. Any injuries and their potential causes will also be tracked monthly via a questionnaire. The collected data will be analyzed to identify patterns, correlations, and causations.
