OBJECTIVES: I. Determine the disease free survival and overall survival of patients with resected stage III or IV renal cancer treated with interleukin-2. II. Measure the degree of rebound lymphocytosis generated by this regimen in these patients. OUTLINE: This is an open label study. Patients receive interleukin-2 IV over 15-30 minutes on 3 consecutive days weekly for 6 weeks, followed by 2 weeks of rest. Patients receive 2 treatment courses, each 8 weeks in duration. Patients are followed every 6 months until death. PROJECTED ACCRUAL: A total of 20 patients will be accrued within 1 to 2 years.

Protocol

This section provides details of the study plan, including how the study is designed and what the study is measuring.
Design Details

20 patients to be enrolled

Total number of participants that the clinical trial aims to recruit.

Treatment Study

These studies test new ways to treat a disease, condition, or health issue. The goal is to see if a new drug, therapy, or approach works better or has fewer side effects than existing options.

Eligibility

Researchers look for people who fit a certain description, called eligibility criteria: person's general health condition or prior treatments.
Conditions
Criteria

Any sex

Biological sex of participants that are eligible to enroll.

Healthy volunteers not allowed

If individuals who are healthy and do not have the condition being studied can participate.
