Angiografía de la Arteria Celíaca Transradial en Pacientes Obesos: Viabilidad y Seguridad

This study focuses on obese patients who undergo catheterization at IUCPQ-UL. Research suggests that embolization of the left gastric artery could lead to significant weight loss. However, catheterization using the femoral artery in obese patients can increase the risk of vascular complications and bleeding. The study aims to explore a safer and more effective method by using the radial artery for catheterization, specifically targeting the celiac and left gastric arteries. This is important as it could potentially improve the safety and effectiveness of catheterization procedures for obese patients. The study is designed as a pilot study at the Quebec Heart & Lung Institute. Participants will undergo transradial angiography of the celiac artery and left gastric artery. This procedure involves inserting a small tube into the radial artery in the wrist, guiding it to the celiac artery, and injecting a special dye to make the artery visible on X-ray. The primary goal is to evaluate the feasibility and safety of this approach by measuring the percentage of successful selective angiographies of the celiac artery. The study also aims to observe variations in the anatomy of the celiac artery and the left gastric artery.
