KhoalaAssociation Between Digital Osteoarthritis and Lower Limb Osteoarthritis (Knee and Hip) in Severity and Evolution - Khoala Group Ancillary Project

This study investigates the connection between digital osteoarthritis (a condition affecting the joints in the fingers) and lower limb osteoarthritis (a condition affecting the knee and hip joints). The research aims to understand the severity and evolution of these conditions, especially considering the link between obesity and digital osteoarthritis, and the potential connection between digital osteoarthritis and the progression of knee osteoarthritis. The study focuses on a diverse group of individuals with symptomatic knee and hip osteoarthritis, representative of the general population. The ultimate goal is to gather more comprehensive data to confirm previous findings and contribute to a better understanding of these conditions. Participants in this study undergo a series of evaluations, including X-ray imaging and clinical and biological assessments of their hips and/or knees. The primary outcome measured is the Kellgren and Lawrence score, a standard method used to assess the severity of osteoarthritis in the hip or knee joints. This score helps researchers determine the progression of the condition and evaluate the effectiveness of various treatment strategies.
