This study aims to understand how the effectiveness of a drug called clopidogrel might be affected by another drug, atorvastatin. Clopidogrel is a medication that helps prevent strokes and heart attacks by stopping blood cells from clumping together. Atorvastatin, on the other hand, is used to lower cholesterol levels. The study is important for adults aged 18-75 who need both cholesterol-lowering and antiplatelet therapy, as it could help improve their treatment plans and reduce potential risks. During the study, participants are divided into two groups. One group starts with the antiplatelet medication (clopidogrel) and then switches to the cholesterol-lowering drug (atorvastatin). The other group follows the opposite order. To measure how the body processes these drugs, a new method known as the erythromycin breath test is used three times throughout the study. Blood samples are also taken to check how well the platelets are functioning. It's important to note that certain individuals are not eligible for this study, such as those with allergies to erythromycin, known bleeding disorders, liver disease, significant lung or kidney disease, and pregnant women. Individuals with psychiatric impairments or a history of substance abuse are also excluded.

Protocol

This section provides details of the study plan, including how the study is designed and what the study is measuring.

Treatment Study

These studies test new ways to treat a disease, condition, or health issue. The goal is to see if a new drug, therapy, or approach works better or has fewer side effects than existing options.

Eligibility

Researchers look for people who fit a certain description, called eligibility criteria: person's general health condition or prior treatments.
